The Age “Problem”“You’re too young for this project!” “But you’re too old to start a business!”
How many times have we heard those discouraging phrases being told to us whenever we want to embark on an ambitious plan/project? But here’s the secret: You’re never the right age!
You’re how old you think you are! And the moment you doubt yourself embarking on a beneficial project because of your age, that’s just Devil’s whispers, you should pluck up the courage and go for it! Trust me, you’ll ‘grow’ or feel ‘younger’ as a result.
In order to prove my point, let us go through history to pick up those who we would think would either be too young or too old to achieve what they achieved:
- Imam Tabari: Memorised the Quran when he was 7 year old, led prayers when he was 8, wrote books of Hadeeth when he was 9!
- Imam Qaffal & Ibn Hazm achieved knowledge when they were old!
- Finally, something I read in one of the Arabic Islamic forums: a 53 year old man begins his Shariah education after retirement!
And of course, there are many more, and they key thought here is not bothering whether you’re too young or too old but focusing on your goal so you don’t let such silly excuses discourage you at all.
